Hub app for WCER iPads

This document is meant to briefly explain what the Workspace ONE Hub app for iPad is and how to use it.

  Hub iPad icon

Hub is an app that is installed when a WCER managed iPad goes through the Workspace ONE Mobile Device Management (MDM) enrollment process.  Hub is used to access campus and WCER resources as well as installing apps from Google, Microsoft, Box, and many other developers. It can be thought of as a self-service WCER app store.

Getting Started

The first time that Hub is opened, users will be prompted for information, agreements, and notification permissions. These prrompts are usually in the order presented below.

Create Passcode

The first time that Hub is opened, a brief "Configuring Hub" message will appear, followed by the "Create passcode" message.
Set a passcode and confirm it when prompted.

NOTE: If you are not asked to set a passcode, then Hub has already been configured and the passcode will need to be entered to continue opening the app.

You have changed the icon for "Hub"

You did not do anything. The icon's color was changed to red by UW's Workspace ONE configuration settings.

Just tap OK

That should be the last of the prompts, agreements, or notifications thrown at the user.

Hub is now configured.

Hub Interface

Favorites

Hub opens to the Favorites page by default. Unless users have added apps to this page, it will not display any app icons.
Hub- Favorites page

To add an app to Favorites, select it from Apps > All Apps. Then tap on the star-shaped icon in the upper right corner of the page.
Tap the Star to Add to Favorites

Apps

The Apps page is broken down into two sections: Recommended and Categories.
Recommended apps are not managed by the end user, and what is shown will vary.

To see all the apps which Hub has available, tap All Apps, under the Categories section.

Select All Apps from the Categories section

The All Apps category page (pictured below) displays all apps available in Hub. If an app is already installed, it's button will show "Installed" instead of "INSTALL".

To get more information about an app, just tap on an app's icon.

Installing Apps

To learn more about an app, just tap on the icon of the app within Hub. That will take you to an app's individual page where you can read about the app and view screenshots.

When you are ready to install an app, just tap on the INSTALL button.

Press the INSTALL button

The app will begin installing onto your iPad.

Teams Installing  Teams

This app is now on the iPad's home screen and is ready to use like any other app!

Removing Apps

Hub does not currenlty have the ability to remove Apps.

Instead, you remove Hub installed apps like you would any other app— touch and hold the app's icon on the iPad's Home screen, tap Remove App, then tap Remove from Home Screen to keep it in App Library, or tap Delete App to delete it from iPad.

Tap Remove App
Touch and hold to remove app

Tap Delete App to delete it from iPad
Tap Delete App

The app is now removed.

NOTE: Hub will still show deleted apps as as "Installed" with the option to REINSTALL because it was not removed by Hub. The app is gone, but Hub doesn't know that.
Hopefully this flaw will be corrected at some point.
