Web Browsers - Updating Your Browser to the Latest Version

To install Google Chrome, visit the following page to download the newest available version for your system: Download Chrome.

1. Open Chrome.
2. Open the More menu by clicking on the three vertical grey dots in the top right corner of the browser.
3. From the drop-down menu, select Help.
4. Then click on About Google Chrome.
5. Chrome will check for updates and install them automatically. Click Restart to apply any updates that were installed to your browser.

Note: If you see a Set Up Automatic Updates for All Users button, it is highly recommended that you select this option, as it will keep Google Chrome up-to-date in the future.

If you are using Internet Explorer 6, you must update to a newer version in order to continue utilizing UW services. To download the newest available version for your system, visit the following page: Internet Explorer Help.

1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click on the Tools tab in the top toolbar menu.
3. From the drop-down, select Windows Update.
4. Then click Product Updates.
5. Scroll down to check the box next to the version of Internet Explorer you would like to update to. 
6. Click Download (blue arrow), and confirm your selection on the Download Checklist page.
7. Select Start Download.
8. When the License Agreement window that appears, select Yes.
9. When another License Agreement window appears, click Next.
10. The installation should now proceed. When it is finished, click Yes to restart your device.

Note: Internet Explorer is set to update automatically by default. If this functionality was intentionally disabled, it may be due to compatibility issues with certain web applications you need to access. As long as you are using Internet Explorer 7 or higher, it is recommended you check with your local IT before upgrading to a newer version.

1. Open the Start menu by clicking the Start button (represented by the Windows icon) either on your screen's toolbar or on your keyboard.
2. Click Settings (represented by the gear icon).
3. Then select Update & Security.
4. Click Windows Update.
5. Click on the Check for updates button.
6. Windows will connect to Microsoft and check for any updates. If they are available, they will be installed.

If you do not have Mozilla FireFox installed, visit the following page to download the newest available version for your system: Download Firefox.

Whichever method you follow below depends on whether your Firefox browser has a menu bar.

Method 1: Browser with Menu Bar

1. Open Firefox.
2. Click on the Firefox menu.
3. Then select About Firefox.
4. Firefox will check for updates and install them automatically. Click Restart to Update to apply any updates that were installed.

Method 2: Browser without Menu Bar

1. Open Firefox.
2. Click on the three horizontal grey lines in the upper right-hand corner of the browser. 
3. At the bottom of the menu, click the grey question mark icon.
4. Select About Firefox.
5. Firefox will check for updates and install them automatically. Click Restart to Update to apply any updates that were installed.

1. Open Safari.
2. Click on the Safari menu.
3. Then select About Safari.
4. Safari is updated as part of your regular Mac OS X updates. To check for any updates not yet installed, click on the Apple menu (represented by an Apple icon).
5. Then select Software Update...
