WiscIT - Workspaces Overview
What are Workspaces?
Workspaces in Ivanti Neurons are role-based modules that are accessed via the top level navigation menu and are the primary way through which Analysts (Technologists) navigate the tool. While there are many different types of Workspaces available in Ivanti, the primary Workspace types that are used in WiscIT are:
Which Workspaces do I have access to?
Your role determines which Workspaces you see. Changes roles will often change the Workspaces that are available to you and the order that they are presented in. Roles also determine which actions and searches you have access to, so when you open a Workspace in one role it may look different from another role.
Workspace types
Object Workspaces
Object Workspaces are the most common workspace type available to most roles. Opening an Object Workspace will show a list of records for that object (e.g. opening the Incident Workspace will show a list of incidents). Which records are initially shown depend on which search is set as the default and the permissions assigned to a given role.
Opening a record from the list view in an Object Workspace will open the form view, where you can see fields, relationships, and other aspects of the object in an easy to view arrangement.
Dashboard Workspaces (Home)
The Home Workspace in WiscIT is a Dashboard Workspace. A Dashboard Workspace opens to the default dashboard for the current role. Once opened, an analyst may navigate to other dashboards that have been published to their current role.
Dashboards are comprised of widgets, many of which show search results, either as a list, a number or a chart. Clicking into results will open the corresponding object workspace with the dashboard search results.
Service Catalog
The Service Catalog Workspace allows analysts to browse and submit service requests for themselves without switching to the Self Service role.
Request Offering
The Request Offering Workspace allows analysts to build request offerings for analysts and self-service users to submit as Service Requests via either the Service Catalog (for analysts) or the Self-Service portal (for self-service users).
