WiscIT - Constructing a Custom Search

This document explains how to construct new searches in WiscIT.
  1. Log into WiscIT. See 161743 for more information.

  2. Open an Object Workspace. See 161199 for more information.

  3. Click the Blue Folder Icon to the right of the Free Text Search in the upper right-hand corner of the workspace.

  4. Construct a Search Clause. Search Clauses consistent of four inputs:

    1. The Object to search against. Defaults to the current business object e.g. "Incident" for an Incident Search. The drop-down can be used to select an object related to the current object e.g. the Service related to an Incident. Use the Is Related To option to search against 1:many or many:many relationships.

    2. The Field to search against.

    3. The Operator to use to compare the Field to the selected value.

    4. The Value to use for the search.

    Example: [Incident][OwerTeam][Equals][Learn@UW]

  5. After constructing the initial clause, click the Plus Icon then select AND or OR to add additional clauses as needed.

  6. Click Run Search to view the search results.

  7. Optional:Adjust search clauses as needed and click Run Search until the desired results are returned.

  8. Optional: Click Save to save the search for later use. Check the add to Favorite Searches box if the search should appear in the favorite searches menu. Most roles are only able to save personal searches. To publish searches to roles, see [LINK TO DOC ONCE CREATED].
