Building & Facilities
- Report a Problem
For minor building issues, you can email or call using the methods listed above. Learn more about other Nancy Nicholas Hall Policies.
Such issues may include, but are not limited to: general facility questions, office changes, furniture requests, etc.
For more urgent building concerns during business hours, call 608-265-0534 or go to the BITS office in room 1116 for immediate assistance. For accessibility or safety concerns outside of business hours, call UWPD at 608-264-2677.
- Phone Lines & Voicemail Set Up
Contact BITS with the office number, full name, and NetID of the person who needs the line. Please specify needs for long distance access and/or voicemail.
Technology Information & Help
- Computer & General Tech Help
The BITS team mainly provides troubleshooting services for departmentally-owned devices (e.g., SoHE VPN, S drive access, admin credentials, hardware issues, etc.). For general tech help or for issues with personally-owned devices, feel free to browse the DoIT KnowledgeBase for troubleshooting; otherwise, contact BITS for further support/guidance.
- Classroom A/V Equipment
Instructions on how to connect classroom projectors to laptops are located on the podiums at the front of each classroom.
Classrooms 1125, 1135, and 4235 are supported by the AV Classroom Media support team. Issues in these rooms can be brought to the AV Help Desk. All other classrooms in the building are supported by BITS, so requests or concerns regarding them may be brought to the BITS team's attention.
- Video Requests
SoHE does not offer in-house video services for communications or academic technology. Video equipment can be checked out individually through BITS and the university offers a full range of for-hire video services through DoIT Academic Technology’s Video Production service, including educational videos for courses, presentation capture and marketing videos to showcase research, programs and services.
- Laptop & Projector Loans
BITS has Dell PCs and Macbooks available for temporary loan to SoHE faculty, PA, TA, grad students, or lecturers. Non-building faculty require a campus ID # when checking out our equipment. Projectors, speakers, and microphones are also available. Some equipment can be checked out after hours with prior BITS approval.
