WiscWeb - Faculty/Staff Pages Not Working

Periodically, you may identify an issue where your faculty/staff pages resolve to a "Page Not Found" or "404 error" message. The fix for this is quite simple and this does not indicate that you've done anything wrong in your project.

What it looks like

Sites experiencing this issue will exhibit a Page Not Found or a 404 error message when you click on a link to one of your faculty/staff pages:

Text on a page that reads "Page not found" followed by a search box

What's wrong?

The issue here is simply that your permalinks on your site need to get flushed so that the structure of the URL gets restored.

How to fix it

To fix this issue, you must flush your permalinks on your site. This is a very simple process and it is outlined in our Flushing Permalinks document (WiscWeb - Flushing permalinks).

If you experience this issue, we also ask that you please notify us so that we can keep a record of affected sites. For this, please send an email to help@doit.wisc.edu. Include the name of your site and the URL.
