Sending Your Document to the Print Queue From a Lab Computer

**Please be cautious when printing sensitive documents.  Documents will be queued on many kiosks and may be printed by anyone**

Sending your document to the print queue is the first stop in printing a document

  • From a lab computer, choose File > Print on the document you would like to print
  • You will see this pop-up
    • Print confirmation screen
  • Click Print
  • Go to a print release station, or Web Portal login with your NetID or Guest account
    • Print release login
  • Once logged in, you will see the prints tied to your account.  From here, you can release or cancel your prints
    • Print release confirmation
  • You are not actually charged until you click print at a release station
  • If you have trouble printing, please talk to a staff member

Paying for Prints

  • When you log into an Infolab computer, your balance will be displayed in a window similar to this:
  • The funds displayed is the sum of both your WisCard balance and your print account balance.  Funds will be drawn first from your print account, then from your WisCard account.
  • If your balance initially shows $0 - click the Refresh button and it should update your information.
  • You are not actually charged until you click print at the release station

Papercut Web Portal

  • You can access your Papercut account information through the web portal by logging in with your NetID.  From here you can access you account balances, see the printing rates for various printers, your transaction history, recent print jobs, jobs pending release, and the Web Print portal.
  • You can upload some jobs directly to the web portal if they are a PDF or most picture file formats - they will queue as normal and can be released either from the portal itself or the release station associated with the printer you chose.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

'Hold for Authentication' Error:

  • When printing on personal mac devices, you may encounter a 'hold for authentication' error.
  • If you do NOT have your password saved (this is the default), the password was likely typed incorrectly. Try typing the password again.
  • If you DO have you password saved, the password saved was likely typed incorrectly. You will need to change the saved password in Keychain Access
    • Use spotlight to search for 'Keychain Access' and open it. Apple has documentation on this app here.
    • In Keychain Access, navigate to 'login' -> 'passwords' -> select the printer they attempted to connect to.
    • Screenshot of keychain access app
    • You should now be able to delete the saved password and try printing again.
