Accessibility and usability barriers

The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist and to help people who support them. The instructor creates the exam in Honorlock, and the student takes the exam in Canvas Quizzes/New Quizzes. This evaluation is for the instructor experience. Refer to the New Quizzes Accessibility and Usability KB to review the student experience.

Screen reader barriers may limit access for people who are blind, have low vision, or have a learning disability

Honorlock has unlabeled buttons and unlabeled form items. Some important features lack appropriate context and description for a screen reader user to use well.

Keyboard navigation barriers may limit access for people with motor disabilities

Some keyboard focus indicators are missing a top, bottom, left, or right side. Some keyboard focus indicators do not have strong contrast, which makes it difficult to follow the keyboard navigation.

Magnification and reflow barriers may limit access for people with low vision

At magnification 300% and above, not all items are available for users. At higher magnification, the top app bar in the menu overwhelms the viewport, making it difficult to read.

Contrast barriers may limit access for people who have low vision or are color blind

Some buttons, menu items, keyboard focus indicators, and other interface elements have poor contrast, which may present barriers for some users.
