The WiscIT powered by Cherwell Application can be accessed by using a thick or thin client.

Thick Client

The thick client is the downloaded desktop application for WiscIT. It is generally more powerful than the thin client, and contains all of the administrative and design functions. Some examples include:

• Designing Reports
• Creating or Modifying Dashboards
• Designing Custom Searches
• Everything that can be done in the Thin Client

This must be accessed via the WAF (Windows only). Instructions on how to install the thick client can be found in WiscIT - Installing the Desktop Client

Thin (Web) Client

The web client is accessible online at http://wiscit.wisc.edu/CherwellClient/Access. It contains less features than the thick client, but will allow you to complete all normal activities. Some actions that you can do are:

• Incident Management
• Use the CMDB
• Change / Configuration
• View and use dashoards
• Consume reports and searches created in the Thick client
