UW-Madison Box - Administrative Reports
Reports Available to UW-Madison Box Customers
The delivery of administrative reports is not automated, we can support running reports on-demand, but not more frequently than once per quarter unless they are requested to support troubleshooting a technical issue or incident response.
We strive to respond to requests as quickly as possible but if we receive a high volume of requests, it may take up to 4 weeks for the Box team to respond. Please be patient with us.
Folders and Files: Export a current snapshot of information about all folders and files in a specific account. Includes file metadata information such as file size and last update, but does not include the date of last file access. Folder and File reports are only run for the entire account and cannot be limited to a specific sub-folder within an account.
Who Can Request: Account owners can request copies of this report for their own Box account or for Project Directory accounts where they are a Co-owner on the top level folder.
Collaborations: Export a current snapshot of user permissions on all collaborated folders and files. This report does not include collaboration history and can not be used to determine who might have had access to a file/folder in the past.
Who Can Request:
- Account owners can request copies of this report for their own Box account or Project Directory accounts where they are a Co-owner on the top level folder.
- Managers/Supervisors can request copies of this report for individuals who reported to them and who are no longer eligible for the UW-Madison Box service.
Shared Links: Export a current snapshot of all shared links. Includes the sharing permissions associated with the link.
Who Can Request: Account owners can request copies of this report for their own Box account or Project Directory accounts where they are a Co-owner on the top level folder.
Note: When reviewing Shared Link Reports the "Shared Link Derived Status" column represents the current security of the file. A file may have been created with an Open shared link and then moved to a folder that has a more restrictive policy. That will result in a difference between the Shared Link Status and the Shared Link Derived Status.
User Activity: An audit log report of most user actions (e.g. collaboration invitations, file upload/download/edit, shared link and file requests). Activity logs are available for up to 7 years from the date the report is run. This report is usually used for troubleshooting technical issues or missing content.
Who Can Request: You can request a user activity report for your own actions. You can not request an activity report for other UW-Madison Box users.
User Statistics: Export a summary of a user’s total logins, uploads, downloads, previews, edits, and deletes. Used for Enterprise reporting and metrics.
Who Can Request: Account owners can request copies of this report for their own Box account.
You can request any of the Box Administrative reports by submitting the Request Form.
