Suite 25, CALS Student Center, Usage Policy and Procedures

Policy and procedure to reserve spaces located in the CALS Student Center, Agricultural Hall Suite 25.

Suite 25, known as the CALS Student Center, in Agricultural Hall is a “place meant for students to ‘plug in, power up, study, and chill.’” Plans are being developed to transform the space and expand its impact on the CALS community. Until those plans are finalized, the space should primarily be used to enhance the CALS student experience.

The CALS Student Center is accessible during normal Agricultural Hall building hours from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday (closed on weekends and holidays). The following spaces* within the CALS Student Center are available and reservable (denoted by a +) by students, faculty, and staff through the campus EMS system https://uwmadison.ems.wisc.edu/VirtualEMS_UW:

25 J and H, the lower level wings are reservable within 30 days of the event and consists of chairs and tables that can be somewhat rearranged depending on the needs of the group/event. The sandwich board in the main area of Suite 25 can be utilized to direct individuals to the wings.  Note that there are no doors to the wings and sound will travel to the main/center space, so organizers should keep sound contamination at a minimum. Examples of events that can be held in the wings:

  • Gatherings of between 10 and 40 individuals (UW employee and/or student facing gatherings)

  • Student organization meetings

  • Resource tabling

  • Study groups with more than 10 individuals

M25 S and Q, the conference rooms, are reservable within 30 days of the event and ideal for private group meetings for students, UW employees, or CALS partners.

The main area of the CALS Student Center (25F) is primarily intended for drop-in study space. However, faculty, staff, and students offering activities and events that are intended for students may consider reserving the space by contacting the Office of Academic Affairs at academicaffairs@cals.wisc.edu for approval. In order to be approved to use the space, 25 J and/or 25 H (the wings) must not be reserved for other events to ensure drop-in space is available to students. The sandwich board should direct drop-in students to the wings for study space. Note that there are no doors to the wings and sound will travel from the main/center space, so organizers should keep sound contamination at a minimum. An example of an approvable event is a community/social gathering of students with more than 40 students.

M25 T, U, V, L, N, and P are primarily spaces that can be used on a first-come, first-serve basis by faculty, staff, and students for private meeting or study space. If a need arises for them to be used for private office space by Agricultural Hall employees, they can be locked.

Agricultural Hall employees are able to reserve the following spaces for quiet/private meetings through the campus EMS system https://uwmadison.ems.wisc.edu/VirtualEMS_UW:
