Overview:

The CALS Office of Information Technology (CALS IT) provides information technology services to the College. Our services support the administrative, instructional, and research computing needs of the College and bridge services offered at the department level and at the campus level through the Division of Information Technology.

Angela (Angie) Seitler, Associate Dean and Chief Financial Officer

The CALS IT Services office provides computing services available to the entire college and, in some areas, to other UW-Madison units. These primarily are in support of instructional and research computing technologies but some crossover with administrative computing exists. CALS IT works in conjunction with local/departmental IT support. Services provided include four main areas:
  • Server Infrastructure & Support (file sharing and application hosting)
  • Instructional Computing Support (Moodle, Canvas, and Instructional Lab Modernization)
  • Web Services (website hosting, design, and development)
  • IT Security (regular monitoring of CALS networks and alerts from campus information security)
In addition, the CALS IT office provides a full level of computing services to CALS Administration units and some services can be extended to CALS academic departments and centers. The focus is providing services that are considered in support of administrative functions and administrative personnel of the College. The clientele receiving these services include administrative units such as the Office of the Dean & Director, Human Resources, Business Services, Academic Affairs. Services provided can be broken down into three main areas:
