CHM IT - Network Drives (Research Drive, Restricted Drive, BI Study, and CHM Shared Drive) - How to Connect
Research/Restricted Drive
Research/Restricted Drive is a UW solution for PIs to store research data. It is HIPAA approved and secure.
Individuals in the following categories are automatically eligible for no-cost allotment of 25 TB on ResearchDrive:
- Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty (Faculty Job Group, Job Codes: FA040 (Assistant Professor); FA030 (Associate Professor); and FA020 (Professor))
- Academic Staff who have been granted Permanent PI status
- Academic Staff with Research Professor titles ((Research Job Group, Job Codes: RE112 (Research Assistant Professor), RE113 (Research Associate Professor), RE035 (Research Professor))
Are you a PI who is interested in signing up for research/restricted drive? If so, read here for more information: https://kb.wisc.edu/95074
Note: If you are looking for a place to store non-restricted data, you can sign up for 50TB of free Research Object Storage (S3) space. Reare more here:https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5bRln8QCBicRT1A
Connecting to Research/Restricted Drive: CHM IT - Connecting to Research/Restricted Drive
CHM Shared and Home Drive
The CHM Shared drive is a CHM-resource hosted by DoIT's shared drive tech. It is part of our environment's default network drives. It is HIPAA approved and secure.
If you are a researcher or CHM staff member who wishes to set up a folder on the shared drive, email help@chm.wisc.edu
The CHM Home drive is where your desktop/documents/downloads/etc. live if you work on a desktop computer.
To mount the CHM Shared or Home drive, see: CHM IT - Connecting to the Shared/Home Drive
Brain Imaging Study Drive
Before CHM was its own department, we were part of the Brain Imaging universe. Everyone stored their research data on the Brain Imaging (BI) study drive, and some researchers still utilize it (especially those who do imaging/MRI studies). It is HIPAA approved and secure.
You need a Brain Imaging account to connect to this drive. Contact help@bi.wisc.edu if you do not have a Brain Imaging account, and they can create one for you.
Once you have your Brain Imaging account, you can mount the Brain Imaging drive by following these instructions: https://wiki.keck.waisman.wisc.edu/wikis/mother/index.php/Connecting_Laptops_to_the_Study_Drive
Peach
Peach is NOT a network drive, it is a remote desktop computer. If you do not have a CHM-issued laptop and wish to connect to any of the above drives, you must first connect to Peach via remote desktop, and mount the drives on Peach, NOT on your local computer. Mounting the drives on your non-CHM computer IS A HIPAA VIOLATION.
To connect to Peach, follow these instructions: CHM IT - Connecting to Peach (Remote Desktop/Terminal Server)
