DiscoverIT Supported Operating Systems
Mac OS X and macOS
DiscoverIT supports the three latest OS releases from Apple. As of January 2026, that includes Tahoe (26), Sequoia (15), and Sonoma (14). DiscoverIT will do what they can to support older releases, but can only guarantee software and server access for the three most current releases. DiscoverIT also does not recommend that older versions be allowed to access the internet. Apple does not officially state which versions they support, but generally only the three latest releases receive security updates.
The list of supported devices for the 3 most recent OS versions can be found below
Windows
DiscoverIT supports all versions of Windows that Microsoft currently supports. As of January 2026, that includes Windows 11. Support for Windows 10 ended October 14, 2025. DiscoverIT will do what they can to support older versions, but can only guarantee software and server access for the three most current releases. Any older versions of Windows (most notably Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1, 10) should not be allowed to access the internet. If you have a Windows 10 or earlier Operating system computer that can access the internet, please contact DiscoverIT to have this remedied.
The expiration dates for each version of Windows 11 can be found at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/products/windows-11-enterprise-and-education
The end dates for Windows Server extended support are 10/10/23 for Server 2012(R2), 1/12/27 for Server 2016, and 1/9/29 for Server 2019.
Linux
DiscoverIT does not recommend running Linux natively on desktops for most users. Instead we recommend using the Windows Subsystem for Linux. If running a full Linux OS is needed/required DiscoverIT will do their best to support the last two Ubuntu LTS releases and the latest version of CentOS.
