Request and view datavault projects
This document describes how to request new datavault storage allocations and how to view existing allocation requests.
Requesting a datavault project

Sign into datastorage.discovery.wisc.edu with your DiscoverIT account and click the link to request space for a new project.

Fill out the fields in the form with the relevant information:
- Subject: a name to help you remember the project (can be the same as the folder name).
- Description: a short description of the data in the project to help with identification later (particularly after archiving).
- Project PI: the username of the project PI. For example, if Andrew Maier is the PI then put
amaier
. - Organization: WID or Morgridge, whichever is most appropriate.
- Short Project Name: the name of the datavault folder to be created. Must contain only numbers, letters, and dashes.
- Expected Size (in GB): The expected size of the project. It will be used to create a quota, but can be changed at any time.
- Access List: The list of users who should have access to the project. Use comma separated usernames, or if you don't know the username put the full name instead.
- Backup: Yes if the project should be backed up, no if not.

Click Create, or Create and add another if you are going to make more projects.
DiscoverIT will receive a notification and provision the project or follow up with clarifying questions.
Viewing existing datavault projects

Sign into datastorage.discovery.wisc.edu with your DiscoverIT account and click the link to view current disk space requests and allocations.

You can sort and filter the view to suit your needs. If you want to search for a specific project, you can use the search bar in the upper right corner.
