Diskover: How to Access Detailed Metadata

You can open detailed metadata/attributes for directories and files, and the steps are slightly different for each. In both cases, Diskover opens a new tab that shows all the metadata your system administrator has configured and indexed for your instance.

Open detailed metadata for a file: Simply click on the file name.

Open detailed metadata for a directory: Hover the folder first, and this icon will appear:

Copy file name: Copy the file name only to your clipboard.

B

Tag: Apply a tag to the current file or directory—existing tag(s) for this item would be displayed here if applicable.

C

File Action: Run a File Action on the file or directory—if your organization uses File Action plugins.

D

</> Fetch ES JSON Blob: Displays the raw Elasticsearch document containing all indexed metadata for this item.

E

Copy full path: Copies the entire path, including the file name, to your clipboard.

F

Copy parent path: Copies the path without the file name—helpful when you need the directory path only.

G

Load in analytics: Loads the parent path into one of the available analytics.

H

Search this path: Search the parent directoryrecursively or non-recursively.

I

Core metadata: Shows all the standard metadata harvested during indexing.

✏️ Each field can be searched individually using field-name search options.

J

Cost: The estimated cost for the file or directory, if your instance uses the cost analysis feature.

K

Extra metadata: If your organization uses metadata harvest plugins, any extra indexed metadata appears here.
