Mailing Rules and Regulations

Mailroom Rules

The US Postal Service has moved to an online customs form – we are no longer able to order the paper version. However packages will be accepted if you still have some of the forms that you are still using.  Those of you that send out packages internationally and do not have the paper version, will be required to fill out a customs form online.  Packages brought down to the mailroom without the paper form or the online version attached will be returned to the sender.

In order to facilitate this process, I have created the attached guide on how to create an online customs form. Please note that the information that you should select and enter should apply to your particular package; the information that I have included in the screenshots may or may not be applicable to your specific package.

As indicated in the guide, you will need to print out your customs form and place it into a customs form envelope. I have just ordered some for the mailroom, so they should be arriving shortly.  I suggest that you order some as well for your department use--you can order five packages of 10 at a time. They are free and can be ordered here:  https://store.usps.com/store/browse/productDetailSingleSku.jsp?categoryNav=false&navaction=push&navCount=0&atg.multisite.remap=false&categoryId=shipping-supplies&productId=P_FORM_2976_E
