UW-Madison Google Workspace - Using UW-Madison Google Workspace with a Microsoft 365 Service Account
This document explains how to use UW-Madison Google Workspace with a Microsoft 365 service account.

Domain Activation
In order for a service account to access the Google Workspace service, the department's Microsoft 365 domain will need to enter into UW-Madison's privacy agreement with Google Workspace.
- If your domain is not already enabled within Google Workspace, attempts to log into UW-Madison Google Workspace using an Microsoft 365 service account will result in the following error message:
"Your domain is not active for Google Workspace applications.
Please contact you local domain administrator." - Contact your local domain administrator to find out if your domain is enabled for Google Workspace. Not sure who your administrator is? Contact the DoIT Help Desk to find out.

Storage Quota Limitations
- Service accounts created after June 1, 2023, will no longer be allotted storage in My Drive and will receive a 0 GB storage quota.
- Service accounts created prior to June 1, 2023, currently using more than 0 GB will receive a temporary quota exception through May 31, 2024.
- On June 1, 2024, all service accounts will be assigned a 0 GB My Drive storage quota.
Service accounts using My Drive to store shared/departmental data that needs to persist beyond a person’s affiliation with the university are encouraged to use a Google Shared Drive as an alternative. See UW-Madison Google Workspace - Preserve My Drive Data Using a Shared drive.
