Manifest - Identifying if a Manifest Group is in Use

This article outlines how a Manifest Group Administrator can identify if a Manifest group is providing access to a service.

Step 1: Open the page for the group in Manifest by completing one of the below options.

  1. Open the My Groups tab and click on the group.
  2. Enter the full path to the group into the Quick Launch box.
  3. Navigate through the folder dropdowns in the Browse box.

Step 2: Click on the More Actions button and select View where this group is used. This will show Manifest groups in which your group is a member.

Step 3: Check to see if the Manifest group is released to any SAML2 entity IDs and/or has been published to Campus Active Directory.

  • Click on the More Actions button and select Edit Delivery/Connection Options.
  • Review the "Publish to Campus Active Directory" field to determine if your Manifest group has been published to Campus Active Directory.
  • Review the "Entity ID" field to determine if your Manifest group is released to any SAML2 entity IDs. If a group has been released to an entity ID, it may be used by that entity ID to scope access.
  • In the below image, the Manifest group "mygroup" is released to Entity ID "https://wisctest.wisc.edu" and the Manifest group is published to Campus Active Directory.

Step 4: Navigate to the Privileges tab for the Manifest group. The privileges tab displays people with privileges for the group. If someone else has privileges, you could reach out to them to see if they know how the group is being used.

For more information on Manifest Group privileges, review Manifest - Manage Group Privileges.

Step 5: If you’ve completed all of the above steps and still haven’t been able to identify whether the group is being used in any way, you can reach out to the Manifest support team at mstsupport@doit.wisc.edu for assistance.
