Note: OS X 10.5 and prior versions are unsupported.
  • OS X 10.6      Snow Leopard      Best Effort Support
  • OS X 10.7      Lion
  • OS X 10.8      Mountain Lion
  • OS X 10.9      Mavericks
  • OS X 10.10    Yosemite
  • OS X 10.11    El Capitan
  • OS X 10.12    Sierra
  • OS X 10.13    High Sierra

Known Issue with OS X 10.6 binding to Active Directory when LDAP signing is required

Apple Support states that there are no reports of Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) clients successfully binding to AD when LDAP signing is required.  The majority of reports from Apple shows that upgrading to Mac OS X 10.7 or above is the only resolution to this issue.

Important Note: On Sunday September 29, 2013 Campus Active Directory will require LDAP signing and OS X 10.6 clients will no longer be able to bind and authenticate to Campus Active Directory.  Again, the only remediation for this issue is to upgrade to at least OS X 10.7.

Campus Active Directory support for Mac OS X 10.6 will continue to be "Best Effort" and support for binding and authenticating to the directory will not be supported.
