GCP accounts reaching campus networks and resources

Google Cloud resources can be connected to resources on campus.

At this time, connecting to campus resources requires a consultation with the Public Cloud and Network Services team.

Google Cloud puts compute resources in a networking unit called a "Virtual Private Cloud".   VPCs can be configured to be able to reach resources that are normally only reachable from campus IP space (research drive / shared drive resources, for example).

UW manages the connection back to campus IP space using a Shared VPC. We would provision a subnet from the Shared VPC to your project, into which resources which need to connect to campus can do so. Note that we cannot move resources already created in a different VPC to this Shared VPC so it's best to start with the Cloud team if you need to connect back to campus IP space.

Please note that the specifics of your network setup as well as authentication methodologies will impact the feasibility of this type of connection.
