Sign in to LabArchives with your NetID

Prerequisites

Before you can log in to LabArchives using our UW-Madison’s site license:

• Your research group must be approved to use LabArchives.

• Your NetID must be approved to log in

Logging in for the first time

If you’re using a shared computer, log-out of any prior browser session (NetID Login Service - Logout Procedure) before you begin the steps below. This step prevents you from creating a user account with someone else's NetID.

The first time you log-in to the UW-Madison LabArchives service, you will be guided to the screen below which asks whether you want to create a new account or have an existing account. 

If you have never used LabArchives before: 

• Select "I do not have a LabArchives account and need to create or activate one."

• Enter your @wisc.edu email address on the following screen

• If someone has invited you to their notebook, make sure you use the email they used to invite you. You’ll know what that email is as you should be able to see it in the invite email you received from LabArchives.

If you already have a LabArchives account, including free trial accounts

• Select "I have an existing LabArchives account already." 

• Enter the email address and password associated with your LabArchives account

• Select “Link Existing Account.”

• From now on you can log in using your UW-Madison credentials. All pre-existing lab notebooks from your linked account will be accessible

Via the LabArchives site 

You can also login directly through the LabArchives site. Your experience will vary whether you’re on campus/using VPN or off campus. 

On Campus or on VPN

• Go to https://mynotebook.labarchives.com

• You will be directed to the following screen

• University of Wisconsin-Madison should be selected from the dropdown list.

• Click Go to your institutions login

• You will be automatically directed to your UW-Madison login page

Off campus

• Go to https://mynotebook.labarchives.com

• You will be directed to the following screen

• Select University of Wisconsin-Madison from the drop-down list under "Select your institution."

• You will be automatically directed to your UW-Madison login page
