SMPH VPN - Connecting to GlobalProtect from a Windows computer

Connecting to SMPH VPN with GlobalProtect from a Windows computer.
  • Connect to GlobalProtect VPN
    • Press the Start Menu and type GlobalProtect, then select GlobalProtect to launch the application.
      • If GlobalProtect is not listed, and you are on a work computer, email Shared Services IT at desktop.support@med.wisc.edu to have GlobalProtect installed. GlobalProtect is installed on all Shared Services IT managed computers as standard software.
      • If GlobalProtect is not listed, and you are on a personal computer, see Installing the Palo Alto GlobalProtect Client (Windows) for download and installation instructions.
      • Windows Start Menu location:

    • If you are asked for a portal address, enter smph.vpn.wisc.edu
    • Press Connect
      • Verify portal address is set to smph.vpn.wisc.edu
      • Enter your NetID and Password, then select Sign In

      • Enter the number 1 to send a Duo Push to device, or enter a MFA-DUO passcode generated from your device app.

      • If the connection was successful, you will see a blue globe in the System Tray (bottom right of computer). If needed, press the up arrow to show System Tray icons.
      • To disconnect, open GlobalProtect by selecting the blue globe the System tray and select Disconnect.
