Purpose and use
The Featured Content page element will allow you to highlight existing or new content on your page. The Feature Content Block is available in the one, two, and three column content layouts.
- Featured Content should be used on high traffic pages to draw users to other content on your site that they might be looking for or might not otherwise visit.
- Common uses for this Page Element are featuring a faculty member, an showcasing an image from a recent event, or highlighting an upcoming event..
Adding the Feature Content Page Element
- Navigate to the page on which you want to add the Featured Content page element.
- Scroll to the Primary Content Area and the Layout on which you want to add the Featured Content.
- At the bottom of that Layout, click on Add Page Element.
- On the Page Element list, click on Featured Content.
Using Existing Content as Featured Content
Check the box for Yes, select a post or page. You will get the following options:
- Featured Image: Adds an image to your featured content.
- Post or Page to Feature: Select the post or page to feature from the dropdown list.
Using New Content as Featured Content
Check the box for No, enter custom content. You will get the following options:
- Featured Image: Adds an image to your featured content.
- Title: Adds a title to your featured content.
- Text: A text block where you can add your content. Provides all of the same features as WiscWeb - Text Block Page Element
- Link: Add a link to the featured content title that users can click on for more information.
Featured Content Block Style Settings
The Featured Content Block offers three addition style settings. These options are located at the bottom of the page element under the "Style Settings" heading.
In content layouts with a white background, these will create a box around the content with a light gray fill. In all other backgrounds, the fill will appear in white.
These design flourishes work best for white and light gray content layout backgrounds.
Drop Shadow
Check the "Drop Shadow" setting to add a box with a basic drop shadow around your text content.
UW Card Style
Check the "UW Card Style" setting to add a box around your content, with a red line border at the bottom of the box.

Check both boxes to add a basic drop shadow with a red line border at the bottom of the box.
Image Size Recommendations
One Column Layout: Can change based on your design preferences
Two Column Layout: 900x600 pixels
Three Column Layout: 900x600 pixels
