08/21/24 Update:
The Zoom AI Companion feature is now available. Learn more: https://kb.wisc.edu/zoom/139097. Supplemental KB documentation for hosts and participants will be available soon.
For AI Companion technical support, please submit a support ticket with Zoom. In the interim, Zoom AI Companion support will be handled by the vendor while we learn more about its usage, technical issues, and frequently asked questions. Support will gradually transition back to the DoIT Help Desk as we learn more.
07/23/24 Update:
The Zoom AI Companion feature is scheduled to be released at the end of summer. Additional information will be shared soon.

05/16/24 Update:
The Zoom AI Companion feature is now on hold until further notice. It will continue to be reviewed by UW-Madison IT governance for future use.
04/11/24 Update:
No change. Due to a requirement for a more comprehensive review of the feature, we don't anticipate the availability of this feature to occur before Fall 2024 semester.

We are continuing to collaborate with campus stakeholders to assess Zoom AI Companion and its roll out.
Anticipated release date: Late Spring 2024.

The review process is in progress and will continue through December 2023.

Original announcement:
Zoom recently announced the release of Zoom AI Companion, a smart AI assistant, and its availability for the higher education community with a business associate agreement (BAA).
We are collaborating with the Office of Cybersecurity and Office of Compliance to review this feature before rolling it out to campus.
If this feature is approved for UW-Madison Zoom users, the release date may be scheduled for the end of November, or early December 2023.
Please note, that Zoom released the Zoom AI Companion tab for all users, which is located in the account settings. Within the tab are settings that will be grayed out until the feature has been vetted. Thank you for your patience.
