Microsoft 365 - Applications that Microsoft 365 service accounts can access using NetID login

Many applications/services around UW-Madison campus use NetID Login service as a means to authenticate into them. Microsoft 365 service accounts may be used to access these applications/services directly. If you need to know the service account credentials, contact your department administrator.

Important: If you navigate to other UW-Madison applications that use NetID login for authentication without first logging out, you will be accessing those applications as the Office 365 service account.

Microsoft 365 service accounts and NetID login

The applications you can access when authenticated with your M365 service account may be different than the applications you can access with your personal NetID. Below is the result of testing by the UW-Madison Microsoft 365 team. It is intended to provide Microsoft 365 users with information about what behaviors to expect when authenticated to NetID login with an Microsoft 365 service account.

Box Does not work It is recommended you use Box Project Directories.
UW-Madison Google Apps Works In order to log in to UW-Madison Google Apps with a service account, the domain must be enabled for Google Apps.
Zoom Works The service account will need to be activated for Zoom before you can access Zoom with the service account. Learn more.
Microsoft Teams Does not work You will not be able to sign into Teams application.
Microsoft OneDrive Does not work You will not be able to access OneDrive application.
UW Madison Qualtrics Does not work Request a Qualtrics Group to share surveys.
Starfish Does not work Contact Starfish support staff for more details.
Wisc Account Administration site Does not work You will be redirected to a blank page.
Cisco WebEx Does not work You will receive an error.
