Cisco VoIP - 7841 Telephone diagram
This is a visual guide to your 7841 telephone.
- Handset light strip. Indicates whether you have an incoming call (flashing red light) or a new voicemail message (steady red light).
- Programmable feature buttons and line buttons. There are two of these buttons on either side of the screen. The first button is for the main line of the telephone. The other button can be used for additional lines, speed dial, busy lamp fields (BLFs) and other programmable features.
- Softkey buttons. These 4 buttons are directly below the screen and above the navigation ring. The purpose of these buttons will change based on whether you are in an active call or not. The purpose of the button will be displayed above the button on the screen.
- Navigation ring and cluster. This circular button and ring around it are in the center of the phone. The outer ring is used to navigate through menus. The middle round button is used to select an item.
- Hold/Resume, Conference, and Transfer buttons. This cluster of three buttons is right of the navigation ring.
- Hold/Resume. The upper button is used to place an active call on hold and then resume the held call. For more information, see Cisco VoIP - Hold calls on desktop telephone (7841/8851)

- Transfer. The lower right button is used to create a conference call. For more information, see Cisco VoIP - Transfer a Call on desktop telephone (7841/8851)
- Speakerphone, Mute, and Headset buttons This cluster of three buttons is right of the number pad.
- Speakerphone. The top button is used to toggle the speakerphone on or off. When the speakerphone is on, the button is lit
- Mute. The middle button is used to toggle the microphone on or off. When the microphone is muted, the button is lit
- Headset. The bottom button is used to toggle the headset on. When the headset is on, the button is lit. To leave headset mode, you pick up the handset or select Speakerphone. Please note that DoIT does not support headsets on the 7841.
- Contacts, Applications, and Messages. This cluster of three buttons is left of the navigation ring.
- Messages. The top button is used to autodial your voice messaging system.
- Applications. The lower left button is used to access call history, user preferences, phone settings, and phone model information.
- Contacts. The lower right button is used to access personal and corporate directories.
- Volume button. This vertical button is to the left of the number pad. Adjust the handset, headset, and speakerphone volume (off-hook) and the ringer volume(on hook). Pressing the top part of the button increases volume; pressing the bottom of the button decreases volume.
