Internet Explorer (Windows) - How to Backup Favorites
This document explains how to backup favorites in Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer 7 and earlier
- Open Internet Explorer.
- On the toolbar, click File -> Import and Export...
- Click Next at the Import/Export Wizard window.
- Select Export Favorites, click Next.
- Select the folder that you want to export. Click Next.
- Browse to the location where you want the exported file saved. Click Next.
- Click Finish.
Internet Explorer 8/9/10/11
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Open the Import/Export Wizard.
- IE 8/9: Click Tools in the menu bar and then select Toolbars. From that submenu, select Menu Bar.
- IE 10/11: Click the star icon in the menu bar, then click the downward arrow next to Add to favorites. From that submenu, click Import and export....
- IE 8/9: Click Tools in the menu bar and then select Toolbars. From that submenu, select Menu Bar.
- A window will pop up asking how you want to import or export your browser settings. Make sure Export to a file is selected, then click Next.
- In the next window that appears, select Favorites then click Next
- Select the folder that you want to export and then click Next.
- Browse to the location where you want the exported file saved and then click Export.
- Click Finish.
