Canvas - Working with the Canvas Calendar Tool (UW-Madison)

Creating events for Canvas courses can be done via the Calendar tool. However, courses need to be selected before they will appear in the event creation window.

What is the Canvas Calendar?

Canvas has a Calendar tool available to all users. This allows them to view and track events taking place within courses and groups as well as create custom events and reminders. 

How do I add an event to my Calendar?

Instructions on how to add events to the Calendar are available for both students and instructors on the Instructure community site. Please see How do I use the Calendar? from Canvas Community for more information.

Why can’t I see my courses listed when I try to create an event?

When creating an event for a specific course or courses, you will need to select the appropriate course calendars from the right-hand window before creating your new event.

If you are not seeing any courses listed when making an event, please check to make sure you have at least one calendar selected from this list.
