Blue - Question Personalization (QP) (Instructor) [UW-Madison]

In this document instructors will learn how to use question personalization (QP) for course evaluations in Blue.

In the Blue tool, instructors can add two additional questions to their student evaluations of instruction for course sections they teach. These questions are added at the section level. If a course section is team taught you must work together. Adding questions is known as Question Personalization (QP). All other questions in the evaluation are preset and cannot be changed. The questions you add will be included in your reports only, not the department and/or college’s reports.

Cross-listed Courses: In cross-listed courses, instructors must add personalized questions for each section for all students to see.

Courses with Multiple instructors

Which instructor can add questions to the course section?

If you are an instructor whose course has multiple instructors, either of you can add questions. However, please consider these details when you or your co-instructor adds questions:

  • Blue will lock you out if the other instructor is adding questions.

  • Only a total of two questions can be added for each course section.

  • Once questions are submitted, Blue will lock the section, and you will no longer be able to add questions.

How can I unlock a locked course section?

The instructor who added the questions must unlock the section if the other instructor wants to edit or add questions. You can also contact the Blue administrator at learnuwsupport@wisc.edu if a section is locked.

  1. Open Question Personalization by following steps 1-4 of the Adding Questions section, earlier in this document.

  2. Select the Options button at the top of the page. It is marked with an icon showing two rectangles on top of each other and is beside the Update button.
Options button is listed after the "Update" button

  3. Select Unlock
