NVivo at UW-Madison

This document explains the current state of NVivo and associated features at UW-Madison.
NVivo is a qualitative analysis tool for research and publication purposes.  NVivo should not be used for restricted data that requires HIPPA/FERPA standards.

Eligibility

Facstaff are eligible for NVivo access if they are in a University-paid position

Students are not eligible for Nvivo access.

Facstaff access at UW-Madison

NVivo can be accessed directly through the Campus Software Library after a valid NetID login.

 

Student access at UW-Madison

Students are not licensed for NVivo.

 

What's included in NVivo for UW-Madison

UW-Madison is licensed for the base version of NVivo.  Transcription services, collaboration services, and AI credits are not licensed and require individual purchase by the user's department.

Licensing Models

UW-Madison licenses individual installations of NVivo.  Collaboration server licenses are not licensed and require individual purchase by the user's department.
