Origin at UW-Madison

This document explains the current state of Origin and associated features at UW-Madison.
Origin is a software application for data analysis and publication-quality graphing, tailored to the needs of scientists and engineers. 

Eligibility

Facstaff are eligible for Origin access if they are in a University-paid position and installing on a University-owned computer.

Students are not eligible for Origin access.

This software is not allowed to be used for Commercial Purposes. Any other use violates the terms of our License Agreement with Origin.

Facstaff access at UW-Madison

Origin can be accessed directly through the Campus Software Library after a valid NetID login.  Please make sure to register your product using the "Product Request Link" on the Campus Software Library page.

 

Student access at UW-Madison

Students are not eligible for Origin.

 

What's included in Origin for UW-Madison

UW-Madison's licensing allows for access to faculty and staff for teaching and research purposes.

 

How to get started with Origin

Origin product registration requires a product key request through a designated link on the Campus Software Library product page.  Once that is complete, you will need to create an account with OriginLab and can then follow the instructions here: Origin Getting Started Tutorial

 

Licensing Models

UW-Madison licenses individual and concurrent licensing for lab environments for Origin.
