Mac - Changing a Local Account Password

This document explains how to change a local user account password from Mac OS X.

To change your password in Mac OS X:

  1. Open System Preferences and select Accounts.
  2. System Preferences window

  3. Select your user account in the My Account section then click Change Password...
  4. Account settings

  5. Enter your current password into the Old Password field. Enter the new password into the New Password field. Re-enter the new password into the Verify field. Click Change Password.
  6. Pick your new password
