Wireless UWNet - Windows Configuration
Follow the procedures below to connect to Wireless UWNet with a Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista computer.
Verify that your network card is installed and enabled
Windows 7/Vista
- Go to Start | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | System.
- Click on Device Manager in the "Tasks" column on the left.
- Under "Network Adapters," your wireless card should appear.
- If a yellow exclamation mark appears, the drivers are not installed correctly. Re-install the wireless card drivers.
- If a red X appears, the device is disabled. Right-click on it and select Enable.
- If the wireless card is not present, the device is not installed properly. Make sure the wireless card is installed properly and attempt re-installing drivers.
Windows 8
- Access the Start Screen:
- Windows 8: Press the Windows Key , or hover the cursor in the bottom-left corner of the screen until a small image of the Start Screen appears, then click on the icon to toggle over to the Start Screen.
- Windows 8.1: Press the Windows Key , or click on the Start icon in the lower left-hand corner (identical to the Windows Key icon) to open the Start Screen.
- Once in the Start Screen, start typing Device Manager, and click on the Device Manager application.
- In Device Manager, click on the drop down arrow for Network Adapters (your wireless card will be listed here).
- If a yellow exclamation mark appears, the drivers are not installed correctly. Re-install the wireless card drivers.
- If a red X appears, the device is disabled. Right-click on it and select Enable.

Windows 10
- Press the Windows Key , or click on the Start icon in the lower left-hand corner (identical to the Windows Key icon) to open the Start Screen.
- Once in the Start Screen, start typing Device Manager, and click on the Device Manager application.

Connect to Wireless UWNet
- Move your mouse over the wireless connection icon. If wireless networks are present, click on Wireless networks are available
- A list of wireless networks will appear. Depending on your location, UWNet wireless network names will appear as UWNet or UWNet-(building name), where (building name) is the name of the building you are in or closest to. Click on the Wireless UWNet network you want to connect to and select Connect.
- Once connected, open up your web browser. You will be redirected to the UWNet login page. Enter your NetID and password.
- After logging in, you will be redirected to your homepage.
