macOS - Finding the IP Address and MAC Address

This document describes the process of finding both the IP address and MAC address of your Mac OS computer.

 

IP Address

  1. Open the Apple Menu in the top-left corner.
  2. Click System Settings.
  3. Click Network.

  4. Click Wi-Fi (or Ethernet).

  5. Click Details.

  6. Find your IP address. In the image below, the IP address is 10.141.165.155.

MAC Address

  1. Open the Apple Menu in the top-left corner.
  2. Click System Settings.
  3. Click Network.

  5. Click Details.

  6. Click the Hardware tab.
  7. Look for MAC address.
    MAC addresses follow the form of 12 characters, separated by colons every 2 characters. For example: 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E
