DoIT Network Change Occuring 5-10

This Thursday morning, May 10th, at 5:00 am, Network Services will be installing a new network device on the DoIT Staff Network.

To all DoIT Staff,

This Thursday morning, May 10th, at 5:00 am, Network Services will be installing a new network device on the DoIT Staff Network. (IPs 128.104.16-19.x). As our evaluation period is ending, we need to perform a large-scale load test, with hundreds of users. The outage window is listed as 5:00 am to 5:30 am, but the actual outage should be only 5 minutes. If there's an immediate problem, it'll be 5 more minutes to back out.

In order to properly evaluate this box, we have to reconfigure the DoIT Staff Network itself, changing the path that the data travels to reach the Campus Backbone. It is our fervent desire that this not affect any users, computers, or services on our network. However, the change is significant enough that we want you to be aware that a change was made.

If you believe that you have a problem that could be related to this, please contact the Help Desk. (As always, provide as much detail as possible, and keep your case number.) Let the Help Desk know that the case should be routed to Network Services. Again, we don't expect this to be noticed by anyone, but just in case, we apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause. We also want you to know that we continue to look for ways to make even more efficient use of our network resources.
