Learn how Zoom’s terms of service and practices apply to AI features.

Recently, Zoom announced updates to their terms of service to explain how customer data may be used to improve two new AI features:

  1. Zoom IQ Meeting Summary

  2. Zoom IQ Team Chat Compose

Zoom states these features are not available or enabled for education accounts, which includes the University of Wisconsin - Madison Zoom account. Zoom clarifies in their announcement that their updated terms of service does not impact education and healthcare customers (ex: UW-Madison).

Please note, if/when these features become available for Zoom education customers, the Zoom IQ features will be disabled by default and two levels of consent must be provided before they are enabled:

  1. consent by the Zoom main account owner or administrator and

  2. consent by the individual user.

Zoom emphasizes in its terms of service update that they do not use any of your audio, video, chat, screen-sharing, attachments, or other communications like customer content (such as poll results, whiteboard, and reactions) to train Zoom’s or third-party artificial intelligence models.

Reminder, Zoom IQ features are not available for UW-Madison Zoom accounts at this time and Zoom has indicated their terms of service update does not impact education and healthcare customers.
