Critical updates for Microsoft's Windows, Office, and Antivirus products were released February 13th.

Of particular concern are three updates:

MS07-010, which fixes a flaw in Microsoft's malware detection engine used by Windows OneCare, Windows Defender, and the Forefront and Antigen anti-virus products.

MS07-016, which patches multiple flaws in Internet Explorer, including a problem with how IE processes requests from File Transfer Protocol (FTP) servers.

MS07-014, which updates Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003 and Word 2004 for Mac to resolve six bugs, four of which were previously identified and are actively being exploited.

For further information on all of the patches Microsoft released today, see the Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for February 2007.

Updates are available from Microsoft:

While all users are encouraged to update as soon as possible, you should check with your department IT staff before installing any patches on departmentally owned computer systems.
