WinME ResNet connection solution for Witte, Ogg and Sellery.

ResNet staff have created an executable which installs the fix automatically. The name of the file is "apipafix.exe".

This fix can be obtained from:

  • ResNet website
  • Walk-In Help Desk (Customer brings in a blank floppy.)
  • Personalized in-room support from ResNet staff.

One of my (ResNet) staff has been working on a registry fix for Windows ME machines that have a difficult time obtaining an IP address from the ResNet DHCP server. The OS has enabled the APIPA feature which results in the OS assigning the computer a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address if it cannot locate a DHCP server within a very limited hop zone.

This is very similar to an issue we experienced with Windows 98 when it first came out in which we had to modify the ipautoconfig key in the system registry. We obtained the information from the Microsoft site, and one of my staff created an executable which performs this fix automatically.
