A major gas main burst has caused dangerous levels of natural gas to be released at the Biochemistry Building. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the area has been haulted. Please avoid the area around Biochemistry (433 Babcock Drive). All traffic in the area is being redirected. Area buildings have been evacuated. Building occupants should not return to (Ag Enineering, Plant Sciences, Moore Hall, Biochemistry and the Biochemistry Addition) until directed. MG&E, Madison Fire, and UW Police are on scene and managing the situation.

While crews are on scene it will take several hours to fully investigate the incident and clear the area of gas.
