As of 12-31-01 the 33.6 modem pool will be turned off and all dial-in customers should have their connection phone number changed to 661-0326 when they call in.

In order to provide faster, more cost-effective and reliable service, all analog 33.6 dial-in lines will be upgraded to digital 56k V.90 service over winter break. The 33.6 modems are reaching the end of their hardware support lifecycle and are subject to higher costs. If you use the 33.6k modem pool (dial-in phone number 661-0322 or 661-0323), please switch to the 56k pool (661-0326) by December 31, 2001. The phone number 661-0323 will continue to be active, but the call will be connected to the 56K pool.

Although the transition to the existing 56k V.90 modem pool should be relatively seamless for most users, some modems that currently connect to the 33.6k V.34 modem pool may not be fully compatible with the 56k pool. Users who experience connectivity problems with the 56k modem pool should call the DoIT Help Desk at 264-HELP for possible solutions. In most instances, connectivity problems can be solved with settings changes or software upgrades. A small minority of users may have to upgrade their modem.
