Adobe has confirmed there is a zero-day exploit for Acrobat and Reader. Little is known about the exploit itself but it can compromise systems and anti-virus programs may not be able to detect the infected PDF files. It is recommended for users to disable JavaScript in Acrobat and Reader.

Disabling JavaScript in Adobe Acrobat and Reader

  1. Open Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  3. Select JavaScript on the left.
  4. Uncheck the Enable Acrobat Javascript box.

Note that this will not prevent all PDF exploits. There is still a slight chance for potential issues with certain legitimate PDFs even if JavaScript is disabled.
