Learn@UW/D2L - Page looks deformed or incorrect in newer versions of Internet Explorer

Because newer versions of Internet Explorer have updated the way they display web pages, some pages written for the older versions of Internet Explorer appear incorrectly. For some users of Learn@UW/D2L, this seems to be occurring. Turning on compatibility view should correct this.
To turn on compatibility view in Internet Explorer, click on the icon that looks like a page ripped in half in the address bar:
