To all DoIT personnel located in the Computer Science & Statistics building. Starting April 7th and continuing for about two weeks, the DoIT Staff LAN will be migrated to the new Campus Network. At the same time, users will be asked to connect their computers to new Category 5e cabling which will support 100 Mbps data transmission rates.

The plan is to migrate a floor at a time to control the effort by groups providing assistance.

In order to utilize the higher speed capability of the Category 5e cabling, most computers will need a new Category 5e cable to connect between the computer and the data jack in the wall plate.

Starting April 8th, the mailroom will be distributing new Category 5e cables in your mailbox along with instructions for connecting your computer to the new data cabling and the new Campus Network. The instruction sheet will indicate the process to migrate as well as what action to take in the event of exceptions or problems. To keep the process moving along, please migrate your computer as soon as possible after receiving the new cable.

If you have any questions about the migration process, contact: Jim Hilby, CISSP - Enterprise Project Manager
