DoIT's Platform & Operating Systems group has worked hard to arrange some help for people infected with the MTX virus. This week DoIT will offer 3 workshops so people can bring their computers in and get some assistance. A POST technologist will be leading the group through removing the virus. The Workshops are Monday December 11th, Tuesday December 12th, and Wednesday December 13th. They all are scheduled for 5:30 pm until 6:30pm.

All Workshops are held in B207 Computer Science and Statistics building. Customers only need to bring the computer, not the monitor, keyboard or mouse. If the system uses an external cd rom drive, the customer will need to bring that. Customers will be working on their own systems with a DOIT technologist there to guide them. They *MUST* stay for the whole workshop.

Space in B207 is limited to 17 people and their computers for each one of the workshops. If all the slots fill up, POST will schedule more times. Keep watching your email for further bulletins.

Open sign up for these workshops begins on Monday. You will find a new entry on the Help Desk internal web page for the MTX Workshop appointment tool. This tool is much like the Walk-in and Modem Doc appointment schedulers. Please do create a Clarify case for Workshop slots. The product should be Virus (non Macro). Billing category is Pay 30. Set the OS pop ups. Include in the notes which workshop the customer will be attending. Escalate the case to HDI. HDI will send it on to the POST-Micro Virus queue.

The Workshops are only for removing MTX, not Navidad or any other virus. Please do your best to determine that the customer really does have MTX. Our internal web page includes some tests you can do--just search for MTX.

Any questions? See me or your Team Lead.
Thanks!
