Message size will be limited to 25 MB
-
What will be different?
The maximum size for messages sent through WiscMail / WiscMail Plus will be 25 MB. Depending on what email client you currently use, this may mean an increase in the maximum message size, a decrease, or no change at all. See the chart below for more information on whether you will be impacted:
** The limit for both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 is a default set by Microsoft, but changing this setting requires an edit to your computer's registry. Please see your computer support staff for assistance before attempting to make registry changes. *** Some mobile clients may impose additional message or attachment size limits. These limitations can vary by device, client or settings selected This limit includes all attachments, as well as the message itself. If an incoming message larger than 25 MB is sent to WiscMail / WiscMail Plus recipient, the sender will receive a notification that the delivery has failed. If you need to share files larger than 25 MB, UW-Madison Box is a great alternative. The Office 365 team is exploring the best options for handling messages larger than 25 MB that are already on the WiscMail servers during the transition to Office 365 -- but in order to prevent the accumulation of additional large messages, each message will be limited to 25 MB in total size starting on August 13th.
