Due to a recent outbreak of viruses across campus the Chancellor has declared a crisis situation across campus. In order to protect yourself from infection follow these steps.

  1. Do not open email attachments from people that you don’t know, that you weren’t expecting, or aren’t mentioned in the body of the text.
  2. Obtain and install Norton Antivirus software. Be sure to update the virus definitions using the Live Update in Norton Antivirus. Update often to keep yourself protected from new viruses. If you are unable to download the software, free Norton CDs are available at the DoIT Walk-in Help Desk for all UW students and facstaff. The Help Desk is at 1210 West Dayton Street.
  3. If your machine has been infected, immediately remove the machine from the network until the virus has been removed.
