Learn@UW/D2L - Service Issue (7:00am-9:21am, 11/21/13) - RESOLVED

Access to Learn@UW restored.

The Learn@UW service was disrupted for UWS users this morning after the deployment of Service Pack 16. The issues were the result of multiple deployment errors associated with D2L's deployment process.

Users at any UWS campus may have experienced the following error message when attempting to access Learn@UW:

401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

Service was partially restored at 8:12am, but the issue was found to be broader than initially identified. Desire2Learn deployment staff were engaged and the issue was corrected on all sites and servers at 9:21am.

However, in the course of applying the correction, an additional problem was briefly introduced. Some users may have experienced "401 - Not Found" errors between 9:21am and 9:33am. This was a result of human error in applying the fixes.

We deeply regret the impact to your campus users, and will thoroughly review the sequence of events to determine steps for improvement.
