Several users have reported issues with WiscCal syncing with their Android devices. Problems currently being reported:

  • Users are unable to configure their CalDAV-Sync account due to an error message indicating the account is not supported or they do not have access.
  • Only some events show up in the Android calendar, though they all show up in the web client.
  • No events are being synced after configuration.
  • After the update to Android version 4.4, the calendar stopped syncing and displaying events.
  • Sub-calendars are syncing correctly, however the main calendar is not.

The WiscCal Team has been testing this issue across several versions of Android. For the Android 4.1 and 4.4 operating systems and for all Samsung devices, it seems the issue was related to the CalDAV-Sync application itself, however a workaround provided by the vendor does exist. Important note for Android 4.1 and Samsung users: To prevent the removal of your accounts on reboot install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.jb.workaround.caldavsync Although this issue seems to be fixed in Android 4.2 the workaround is still required on Samsung devices. Please note that there is a new issue in Android 4.4: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=66905 It causes accounts to be removed when an app is updated. Installing the workaround app should help. The vendor has released a new version (0.4.4) to help correct the issue we've identified as well as make some minor fixes and workarounds for some broken servers & devices. Please update to the latest version of the CalDAV-Sync app. Simply upgrading has not worked for all users, however a workaround does exist. We have contacted the vendor of the application to continue our troubleshooting.

Workaround:

Within the CalDAV-Sync application, navigate to your account settings and enable the Use WebDAV Sync Method option. Once you've done that, navigate to your calendar application and refresh your calendar. It may take some time to fully sync. If you do not see this option, please make sure you have updated to the latest version of the CalDAV-Sync application. Some users have reported needing to reboot their phones for the sync to start.
