Netsky-c update for 2/25 New Netsky-c virus definitions for WiscMail were installed this noon. The virus was already on campus before virus definitions were available from the major anti-virus software providers, McAfee, Norton, and Sophos. Once again, Windows desktop users need to update their Norton Antivirus definition files using LiveUpdate.

Virus update for 2/18 A new virus, called Netsky has made an appearance on campus. New Dat files on the WiscMail servers were updated shortly after 10:00am when they became available (NAI released the update at 10:01 Central time). W32/Netsky.b@MM is covered in this dat update. The current Dat rev is 4325.

MyDoom and MS Windows update for 2/11 With the latest variant of the MyDoom worm, and recently reported Microsoft Windows vulnerabilities, the campus is reminded again to take several easy steps to secure their computers against these problems.

Install Norton AntiVirus and scan your computer for viruses. Use the latest virus definitions (updated as of 2/11/04). You can obtain a free copy of Norton from the DoIT Tech Store, or via the link below.
